6th May 2011
I love Brickfields and enjoy writing this blog, sometimes lightheartly, but on occasions it’s important for visitors to be aware of some dangers. I recently received a letter from the Community Neighbourhood Safety Team (Police) and I’m led to believe this letter was posted to all local residents living near to Brickfields LNR, warning of the dangers of Motor Scramble Bikes & Quad Bikes being used on the site. These Motor vehicles are NOT ALLOWED on Brickfields or in Franks Wood, It is totally unlawful. I have been informed the Police now have the power to confiscate the motor vehicles for those persistent offenders.
I have been given details of how to contact the The Safer Neighbourhood Team (Police) & The Parks Protection Service (L.B.H) ;
1. Safer Neighbourhood Team – Station Office 0208 7212578  Mobile; 07876391553

2. Parks Protection Service number Direct to Officers on call Mobile 07904 805872

Due to several complaints from local residents to both the Police & The Council Parks Service, both of the services are now taking the situation very seriously and are acting accordingly. The Park Service have now issued two Scrambling Bikes themselves to their officers to patrol the larger Open spaces in Havering and the Police ( C.S.O’s ) visit Brickfields daily at different times. Both of these services are doing an excellent job and can do even more with support from the public.

Brickfields is a designated Nature Reserve and a Public Park  with children’s amenities , where children can play without fear of road traffic and where people can enjoy the tranquil surroundings of nature,so don't stay away, go and enjoy the place.

If you do observe any unlawful or anti social behaviour while visiting Brickfields DO NOT enter into a confrontational situation with the alleged offenders, but contact the professionals !

Hopefully I can update Brickfields with more pleasant news soon, Bye for now.

5th May 2011  I‘ll try and explain...it‘s not the B.B.C TV or Radio, but the initials are the same and it stands for Bulletin, Boris & Cuckoo.  I never received an invite to the Royal Wedding, so decided to go away for the week. We have a family caravan at Walton on Naze, watched the wedding on the Telly and managed to fit in a good few hours of Birdwatching.
Holland Haven Country Park is a good place to see a good assortment of Birds and Waders. About 30 Avocets counted, Bar-tailed Godwits, Ringed Plovers, Sandpipers, Jackdaws, Sedge Warblers and Yellowhammers, to name but a few.

Bulletin - While I was away the local Upminster & Cranham Residents Association, published and delivered their monthly Bulletin. In the bulletin there was an article about Brickfields and this website and they gave the web page details. So, much to my surprise, when I logged on after a week away I was shocked to find I am receiving about a 100 hits a day...So hello and welcome!
Boris – Did my civil duty and cast my A.V. vote this morning and then on to Romford for a spot of shopping.  The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson was doing a walkabout in the Mall, meeting and greeting shoppers, I wondered if he had been on my website, didn’t have the courage to stop and ask him !
Cuckoo – From one Cuckoo to another (its O.k. he doesn’t read my Blog) heard my first Cuckoo of the year over Brickfields this afternoon, so another bird for the list.
Must get over Brickfields more - Bye for now.
